Is there shadowing for pharmacists?

I understand in the medicine field, students who want to be nurses or doctors attend shadowing for actual doctors or in hospitals to learn and assist in the actual work place. I don't know if that is the case for pharmacists as well and if it is how I would go about becoming a "shadower." #pharmaceuticals #medicine

Hi Noah,

You can always ask the pharmacy if you can shadow. I did not "shadow", but I did not volunteer at a Rite-Aid pharmacy when I was in college. It was a pretty cool experience, as I got to actually know what happens behind the counter. You should ask if you can volunteer and help out as well!

Best,
Herman

Hello, the option for shadowing is a little more limited compared to that of medical school. Some of the smaller community pharmacies that independently owned probably would do this more. My recommendation would be to get a pharmacy technician license and go from there to get the real feel. Good luck !

You might check with some independent pharmacies in your area they might be able to do it. In a large chain pharmacy find a job doing anything in the store and see if you can cashier or something similar in the Rx department and maybe move up to technician.
