Dustin’s Answer

Training for a law enforcement can vary from one department/agency to another, however in my recent interactions with various departments the training is on average six months. As Mr. Branham had stated, this profession requires continues education, training, and self-motivation so that you can ensure your giving your best to yourself, your coworkers, your agency, and the community that you serve.

My motivation for joining law enforcement was to have a hands-on impact in making the world a better place.

Something that you have to have to be a law enforcement officer/agent is desire and drive. Desire is needed as it is an occupation that is taxing on you physically, mentally, and emotionally but is well worth it when doing it for the right reasons. Drive is needed because without it you will not be giving your all which is costly, however I think the rewards of doing the right thing keep the fire lit in most officers/agents.

Law enforcement is an amazing career and I hope you continue to seek more answers.

Be Safe.

Robert’s Answer

I work for one of the most trained corporations in the company. Training is great. Imagine you get to learn about something related to what you do to build your competence and comfort level. The more you can prepare and learn, the easier the real life events become. Image a sports player. If you train and understand all the whats and whys, you will then step on the field and have a leg up as you know what will most likely happen, when, and how. You will be doing your job better because you prepared better.

Michael’s Answer

You learn in law enforcement for the same reasons you learn everywhere else. You must grow with the profession (And recent court decisions, community needs, etc) and learn to continue to better yourself at every turn.

Learning is lifelong!
