What college would be recommended if I want to study autopsy and be an autopsy tech?
I want to be an autopsy technician but I'm not sure what college would be best to go to nor do i know what colleges offer autopsy courses

Hi Corina,
In order to be an autopsy technician, you should have a degree in some type of science field. Options include biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or pre-med. Degrees in forensic or mortuary science are listed as the better options. However if you want to be an autopsy tech who eventually becomes a medical examiner (which would require going to medical school), it might be smarter to get your Bachelors in pre-med. I would recommend speaking to a school counselor first before making any decisions.
There are hundreds of colleges you can attend for a basic science degree. However, if you want a forensics degree, depending on where you live, consider doing an internet search of your city and "forensic science programs." For example, here are 6 colleges in New York that offer forensic science degrees:
1. John Jay College of Criminal Justice
2. Syracuse University
3. Hofstra University
4. Pace University
5. Hillbert College
6. Alfred State College
Check with each school's webpage for program updates.

You will require a background in Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology. The most direct way, if you know exactly what you want would be a BSc in Forensic Science (4 years). You find links to programs in the US here:

I can't really recommend any particular ones because it is (a) not my field, and (b) it will depend on the particular direction you may be interested in (different programs will have somewhat different focus), where you live now , where you want to live, cost, availability of scholarships etc.
