How do I find acting auditions near me?

My Name is Aureale. I'm a 16 year old African American in the 11th grade. I love acting and singing. They're both my passions. I want to one day be an actor. But I don't know how to find auditions.

Look at backstage online. Also do a google search “acting auditions near me.” In Cincinnati it’s probably gonna be mostly theater, but that’s a great place to work on your craft. Also get an acting coach. If you are serious about a career in acting, go to a college that has a good performing arts program. And after that if you want to pursue it as a career, I’d suggest moving to LA or New York. LA if you want to be in TV and Movies, and New York if you want to be a theater actor.
Let me be clear, moving to LA or New York just know you are gonna be put to the hardest test of your resolve and resilience. Most people quit after 5 years if all their dreams haven’t come true. Some people get an early break, but most not. It’s a marathon not a sprint and the better you get, the better your hustle, the more opportunities you will experience. Life is meant to be lived and you’ll never regret trying. It’s better to try and fail than let that haunt you for not even trying. Go for it and best of luck to you!

Hello, Aureale !

Happy to see that you are starting your training and pursuit at a young age because the earlier you start with acting, the better foundation you will have !

Try the auditions/casting notices at Production Hub. I left the link for you below. Hopefully, they will have some casting for your age range. Also, sign up with Actors Access. You'll be able to register for free and post a photo or two plus create a resume right there on their site. I provided their link for you below. There is also the Ensemble Theatre where you live. Visit there and ask about their casting process, if you would need to be in the union called Actors Equity or not. Go to any theatres large and small and ask about auditions. There is The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati which you should also familiarize yourself with. Run everything by a parent before you do anything and let them know your process. They could be of big help especially with transportation !

Now, the next piece of advice is to connect with your peers who are also actors. Put together shows and ask your high school if you can perform them, maybe a night of One Acts and also audition for everything at your school. If the nearby colleges allow non-students to audition, find out about that process, too. If you can connect with any remote acting work on line, that would be awesome as well. Just register at Indeed and Linked In and search for "Actors" and some acting jobs will come up, both in person and remote.

Keep your photos and resume up to date about every six month or if there are any changes before that. Make sure you look like your photo. Progressively sharpen your acting, voice and movement skills and don't let anyone discourage you. Remember that you have something very special and unique to offer and that wonderful essence that only you can bring to a role. Never limit yourself. Go out for extra work, under five parts, feature parts, ensemble and lead roles.

I hope that this has helped and I wish you all the best in the acting world !
