When applying to colleges should I submit my resume, even if they do not require or ask for it?

I am a junior in high school currently working on updating my resume to reflect my academic and extracurricular activities/achievements. Since creating a resume is time-consuming, I thought it may be worthwhile to send to colleges so they will have a good idea of who I am as a student. #college #resume #application

If there is an option of submitting your resume, even if it is not required, I would go ahead and submit it. This will help college admission officers understand what your passions and interests are. I have had a job since I was in 10th grade, I did have a resume when I was in high school and I submitted it during my college application. It will probably set you apart from other applicants.

I would say yes to including your resume, it shows your interest and desire to get onto the course and also, as you quite rightly said, shows the colleges who you are as a person. I would recommend visiting a Careers Advisor of some sort just to check over your resume to make sure you're heading down the right track, which I am sure that you are!
Good luck with your college application!

I would advise that you send your resume if you are employed while attending high school. If you held any part-time positions with any companies, organizations, or perhaps worked for a small business then that experience would be valuable to capture in a resume. A resume with academic and extra curricular activities would be a great starting point to create and continue to build on but I am not sure it would provide any significance to a college advisor without some type of actual employment skills and experience included.

In my opinion, a resume without any real world job experience would reflect that you are a student juggling typical student related activities, but if you could include a resume that identifies you as a full-time student and working a part-time job then your application might stand out slightly above the rest. I worked a few different part-time positions while I was attending high school so I started developing a resume very early in my life while I was still a teenager. The experience that I gained from those early part-time jobs translated into valuable real world skills like sales, service, communication, product inventory, advertising, marketing, and money management that I was not able to acquire from high school courses or extracurricular activities.
