Will I be missing out on starting a family if I go to college for too long?

I have big dreams for myself in many different aspects including my education and family. I want to expand my education as much as I possibly can while I also would like to start a family before it is too late. #college #familyoreducation

Hi Nichole! Kudos to you for wanting to expand your education as much as possible! Not knowing all the variables, I think there are a lot of challenges to trying to take on too much at one time and spreading yourself too thin. Trying to pursue a degree while raising a family, while not impossible, would definitely pose some challenges. While you don't want to take 1 day for granted, being able to focus your full attention and energy on education and then turning that attention to a family, may help you achieve a better balance, without guilt or fear that you are missing out on something or taking on too much at once. Good luck to you!

Hi Nichole A. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.

Thanks so very very much for this awesome question! As someone who has been working in highly technical fields for all of my career, I bring you some good news :). It doesn't have to be familyoreducation. It can be both...BUT...it requires some planning. Now that phrase "some planning", can be interpreted in different ways. So I provide some context...

It is my opinion that getting your education is the foundation for most, if not all, good things that can be achieved. In my case, it was important to get my degree and get a foundation in a strong career with growth potential. With that under my belt, being able to build a life outside of my career, including starting a family, felt a little less stressful.

In short, what could be helpful might be to focus on "one mountain at a time":). Consider that your education is a building block that can be used to build out your future. Those building blocks can grow as you continue your education either through formalized means (like more school) or just through being a life-long learner. I found that in the long run, prioritizing my education served me and my family very well and even prepared us in ways that couldn't have imagined.

Best of luck to you!
