Hi Michelle! Great question and there are many ways to find local scholarships that are relevant for you!
1) Your College's Financial Aid Office: They often have lists of scholarships specific to their institution or affiliated with certain departments
2) High School Counselor: Your counselor may be aware of local or regional scholarships you might qualify for
3) Local Organizations: Community foundations, rotary clubs, and businesses often offer scholarships to local students.
4) Professional Associations: If you're interested in a specific field, check with relevant professional associations for scholarships targeted towards students pursuing that career path
5) Employers and Parents' Employers: Some companies offer scholarships to employees' children or have programs to help fund their education.
Hope this helps to put you on a path forward of finding scholarships! A few extra tips on scholarships:
- Start early: The earlier you begin your search, the more opportunities you'll have to find and apply for scholarships.
- Be thorough: Don't limit your search to just one or two websites. Explore different resources to maximize your chances of finding scholarships you qualify for.
- Tailor your applications: Pay close attention to the requirements and essay prompts for each scholarship, and tailor your application to highlight your relevant skills and experiences.
- Don't give up: Even if you don't win every scholarship you apply for, keep searching and applying. Persistence is key!
