Choosing to pursue a career as a Doctor is an excellent decision, and it's a profession that brings immense satisfaction. To equip yourself for this exciting journey, it's crucial to focus on your studies, particularly in the areas of Math and Science. Be diligent and attentive when studying fundamental subjects like Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Statistics. I believe in your potential to excel in these areas. If possible, consider shadowing a Doctor in a field that sparks your interest. They can offer you invaluable guidance about the journey ahead, the duration of schooling, and provide useful tips. Wishing you all the best on this rewarding path.

Pradyumna’s Answer

Hi Ulises, That's a wonderful endeavor! The medical profession is always in demand and Doctors are pillars of their community. Typically, you need to apply for integrated med or pre-med undergraduate programs, where you could choose a related major like Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Genetics etc. In your final year of undergrad, you will need to take the MCAT exam and apply for medical school based on your MCAT results. Typically, after med school, you need to do residency in your chosen specialization, and then you get the opportunity to practice medicine. However, most Doctors go on to the M.D. program for further specialization and that is also accompanied by a Residency stint.
