What is something that a lot of college alumni have about not in your college years?

I would like to read off of everyone's experiences in #college because I do not want to miss out on anything in college and regret it later. Since you only get the college experience once, so I want to make the best out of it.

Hi Faith - I think the most important thing is to be open minded and get involved as much as possible with clubs, events, teams, and other experiences that your college offers. It will provide you a great opportunity to meet people outside of the classroom and test out what interests you, whether it's a hobby or related to a career path. I participated in college athletics which very much shaped my experience in a positive way and taught me life lessons. I had friends who participated in the drama program, or Investment club and they shared similar experiences. I would suggest you check out clubs that interest you and don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone to join something that is new and different. I was fortunate to also study abroad for a semester and if it is something available to you, I would recommend that you consider that as an opportunity. Check out all of the activities, clubs and events available to you on campus and start to sign up for those that interest you - over time you'll find the right fit and realize which ones prove the most valuable to you, and you to them, and stick with them!

Marissa recommends the following next steps:

Search for the list of clubs, teams, and events at your school
Thank you comment icon Get involved at school! Attend fairs, and join clubs and take advantage of events being hosted at your school. Lots of shows and concerts to see. You'll get exposure to so many things like arts & culture that you may not be able to make time for when you leave college and are working full time. Talk to people, make friends. You'll meet people from all over the world, from different cultures and backgrounds and their own wealth of knowledge. Also, when you travel the world later on, you'll have friends everywhere you go! Don't forget to do well in school, while you're there. While a lot of people may not appreciate all the work their professors make them do, having the best grades when you graduate gives you options for your future. Farihah Sattar

HI Faith,

You are so smart to try to get the most from your college years. Marissa provided GREAT advice... get involved! Your activities outside of the classroom are just as important as those IN the classroom. I joined a service organization, which provided me with an outlet to help others, meet great friends, and even travel! I also participated in a 2-week "internship" during my senior year on the Navajo reservation! I (briefly) lived with a Navajo family and got to experience their lifestyle, their language, and their native foods.

So... take every opportunity and cherish every minute!
