What are some pieces of financial advice to help make it through/into college?

I enjoy shopping but know when to NOT spend money. However, I still find it difficult to actually SAVE my money. I know some expenses are bound to happen but I fear that I might not do so well if I don't know what exactly to expect in college. I know while I'm away, my parents want me to wait a while before I get a job, so how do I prep for college with what money I have?
