How tough is it to get a college degree in psycology?

If I don't go into racing school, I plan on going to college for psycology because I've always been interested with how other people think and I think that if I could understand it more through college, it could help with my future racing career. #strategic-thinking #mind

Hi Kayde, it is great to see that you have a field of interest that you are willing to pursue. I know a number of people from my college that majored in psychology, as well as friends. They found the major to be thoroughly interesting; especially with the trials they had to conduct for class. Some are even getting a PHD in the field, while others are using their psychology background for a career in marketing.

To answer your question, with solid effort and dedication you will have the tools to successfully major in psychology. I recommend researching the psychology programs of colleges that you are interested in, and if there are concentrations that will help with your goals. Some schools may have a program that is much harder to be accepted into, because it is a popular major. A psychology major is very versatile, so I recommend researching and understanding how it will help with your racing career, as well as other potential uses. Hope this helps. Amit

Michael’s Answer

Hi Kayde,

It all depends on how much work you put into it. If Psychology is a subject area you are truly passionate about, you will find most aspects of it fascinating and relative to your day to day life. Some of the courses can be challenging but achieving this degree is very doable. I minored in Psychology and while I found the classes challenging, the subject matter was fascinating so it facilitated a greater level of learning and understanding. If you choose to continue along with your Psychology background, you can choose to become a Psychologist (Master's 2 years, Ph.D takes 5-8 years), a Psychiatrist (in which you would attend medical school), or even a Social Worker (2 years for Master's degree).

I hope this helps!

Mike
