Pamela’s Answer

Interesting question, the "mind" is the element of a person that enables them to be aware of the world and their experiences, to think, and to feel; the faculty of consciousness and thought. When I think of your question, I think of a career in Brain Science and Cognitive Psychology; neuroscientist (someone who studies the nervous system) or a Neurologist - a medical doctor who diagnoses and treats disorders of the nervous system or a neurological surgeon - a medical doctor who performs surgery on the nervous system (brain, spinal, nerves). Psychologists have many roles working in brain science and cognition, you could work in a teaching environment or conduct research; there is a lot of opportunity in this area (human-computer interaction, organizational psychology).

Sharon’s Answer

If your major is psychology, you can teach, work in human resources, social worker, sports management, law enforcement, ministry, etc. Psychology is a good bachelor's degree if you want to go further and get your master's in any other degree such as mental health counseling, marriage and family counseling, etc. Some students will major in mental health counseling and get a certification in play therapy. It's an awesome career and one that will keep you busy and employed.

Martina’s Answer

Psychology is very versatile. Apart from the more common application, psychology degree carries a lot of weight in tech companies. I work as UX researcher and apply my psychology background all the time. User experience field relies heavily on psychology and I suspect so do sales, marketing, advertising and other strategic positions. Often positions in tech ask for a degree in computer science, HCI, psychology or social science.

Vandana’s Answer

Hi Campbell,

That is a great question. With a Psychology degree, you can venture into providing clinical therapy, mental health support & even career counseling. If you interested in learning about People's mind, behavior & why they do things differently then others I would recommend Therapy. You could also look into criminal psychology as an option.

Kaci’s Answer

One career to consider in the psychology field is school psychology. How it looks varies from place to place, but my job includes testing (cognitive, academic, social-emotional) for special education eligibility, counseling students, and consulting with school staff on how to help students in the classroom/at school. You work with students but also collaborate with other adults (parents, teachers, social workers, principals, and school counselors). They pay varies by where you work, but it is a growing field in psychology and ranked as the #3 job is social services.
