Why am I so nervous to move into the dorms?
I am moving into the dorms when I start college in the fall. I thought I would be really excited to finally get away from my parents but I'm actually really nervous even though my college is 10 minutes away from my house.

It’s completely normal to feel nervous about such a big life change! Moving away from home can be scary. We all find comfort in our routines, but stepping outside them is how we grow.
Always remember, your support system is still there for you. Just because you’ve moved away doesn’t mean you’re all alone. Family and friends are only a call or text away (and lucky for you, they are close by too for the days you just want to go home), and they’ll always be there to listen, no matter the reason.
You might also worry about handling everything on your own but you don’t have to. Your college is full of resources to help new students adjust. There will be plenty of meetups, orientation events, and support services to guide you as you settle in. Colleges don't want their students to struggle because happy people get better grades!
Going to college is a chance to explore and find new passions (or grow the ones you already have - I know I was clueless starting college but that doesnt mean everyone is!).
Your new roommates will be going through the same thing. Together you can discover all the clubs and societies that interest you, and slowly build a new routine that feels like home. It’s a challenging but exciting next step.
Enjoy every moment of it!
Check out your college's new student programs
Use the summer to gradually build a new routine - go to the library as a placeholer for lectures. And also to get used to finding research for your course. Librarians are really helpful!
Talk to family about your worries. They will have plenty of stories about their time in college
