Hey Alyssa! I’ve definitely felt frustrated seeing internships that ask for experience I haven’t had the chance to get yet, especially when I’m just starting out. The key I’ve learned is to focus on building small experiences that count, like class projects, volunteering, part-time jobs, or even personal passion projects that relate to my field. I also looked for entry-level or student-focused roles on platforms like Handshake, LinkedIn, and my school’s career center, they're often more flexible with requirements. When I applied, I made sure to highlight transferable skills and show my enthusiasm to learn. Companies know interns aren’t experts yet, so they’re looking for potential. Strive to be a hard worker, dedicated and proactive and these are skills any interviewer will value. Good luck!

Hi Alyssa,
There are different kinds of internships. Internships for college students or graduates require experience or even a degree. They expect you to have some skills in the profession and be able to do "real work" and fit into the team. These internships prepare you for the job market so you can enter with that experience under your belt.
Internships for high-school students allow students to get an impression what the job is like. You'll maybe get some project or you'll go through different departments. These internships don't require degrees and little or no experience.
What you want to look for is internships for high-school students. Large companies, universities and national labs usually have dedicated programs.
I hope this helps! All the best to you!
