Hi Madison,
That's a great question, and it's awesome that you're already thinking ahead about your career!
Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) typically earn a median salary of around $62,770 per year in the U.S., according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Salaries can vary depending on where you live, what kind of healthcare setting you work in, and how much experience you have.
Some PTAs working in home healthcare or nursing care facilities can earn even more.
As for what it's like to be a PTA—it's a hands-on job where you get to help people recover from injuries, surgeries, or chronic conditions.
You work under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist and help patients do exercises, stretches, and therapies that improve their movement and reduce pain. It’s a rewarding career if you enjoy helping others and like working in an active, health-focused environment.
If you're a sophomore, it's a great time to start exploring programs and even see if you can shadow a PTA or volunteer in a clinic to get a feel for the work!
