Why is it so hard to find entry level jobs as a fresh graduate, even though it seems like you're a perfect candidate for each one? Is there a secret that career professionals have to this?

Hi Ezinne,
The job market is increasingly competitive, especially at the entry level. You may have noticed entry level job postings that require previous work experience. It's a catch-22 situation: entry level job candidates don't have relevant experience, but also need relevant experience to land the entry role position.
Although it may sound like you're a perfect fit for the job, there are always other candidates who are just as qualified. You and your classmates took the same courses, read the same textbooks, developed similar skillsets and are all looking to enter the same field. Moreover, there are other graduates from different schools all vying for the same positions.
Recruiters have a difficult time screening applicants from the talent pool. Network with your peers and try to obtain a recommendation to help you stand out in the recruitment process. If applicable, obtain credentials in your field to differentiate yourself and showcase your commitment to lifelong learning in the profession.
It's important to remember every job rejection is one step closer to a yes. Apply to as many positions as you can.

Landing an entry-level job as a fresh graduate can be tough because many roles still expect some experience, and competition is high. Employers look for proven skills, not just potential (sometimes) so it’s important to showcase internships, projects, or volunteer work that relate to the job. Generic resumes don’t stand out tailoring each application and using the right keywords is key. Being strategic, persistent, and proactive can make all the difference in breaking through remember the right doors will open and the wrong doors are going to be lessons to improve. Keep your head up you got this!

Hello Ezinne,
This question is becoming very popular and its the sad truth as of today with recent grads. The job market is very competitive and slow in hiring, as they are seeking very skilled candidates now. But don't feel discouraged, you just have to leverage your resume and LinkedIn so it aligns to the qualifications a recruiter seeks out of a candidate. There is no secret, just need to figure out what you may do to stand out from other candidates. Don't give up, and stay positive. I hope you land the job you desire. All the best.
Best,
Gishan
