Hello, Troy !

I am confused. So sorry, and I don't mean this any particular way, but you have your Doctorate Degree and you do not know what career your degree is connected to ?

Your first step is to return to the university that you received your Doctorate at and speak with a professor, the academic counselor and visit the Career Center on campus.

I can't say what you as an individual are qualified for, but your degrees indicate validation of certain skills and abilities. The degrees indicate an advanced understanding of human and spiritual behavior, above average communication skills and very strong research, presentation and persuasive skills (for defending your Doctorate Thesis). It also indicates that you have experience through either internships, volunteer work or academic practicums. These will be the things that an employer will be evaluating during a job interview.

Since you haven't yet explored compatible careers for what you've studied, I can suggest some positions that you will have to start looking into. You will have to know if you're qualified or not. The first thought is to be a college professor or a school Administrator. Look into being a Community Service Program Director. Other careers to learn more about are a Church Leader or Administrator, Program Director at a non-profit organization, start your own Ministry, Mission Leadership, Pastoral/Christian Counseling, or become a Pastor or a Chaplain. So research these careers online and choose one that you feel inspired towards. Speak to the people at your last university and when you feel ready, an idea of the career will come to you.

I hope this helps and I wish you all the best !
Thank you comment icon I appreciate your advice. That said, I have served as a private school teacher for 6 years, a pastor for a 1 year assignment, and college instructor in colleges that have now closed down. Presently, I am teaching a few courses in a high school. Career-wise, I feel as though I am now "wandering." Troy
Thank you comment icon You're welcome ! I could have given you more useful advice if I knew all that. I wish you very well in all of your works ! Michelle M.
