What were some things you guys did to prepare for college? As a first generation student I don't really know what to expect for college so if anyone has any tips for dorming, studying, and fitting in I would appreciate it.
Can't wait to here what you guys have to say!

Congratulation on reaching this milestone! You should be so proud of yourself. I was a first-generation student as well and can relate to the first-year nerves. You have nothing to worry!

Don't put too much pressure on yourself, the dorm life is full of experiences. Print pictures of your favorite memories to hang on your walls, so if you ever get homesick you can look up to remember the love of your friends and family that you carry with you wherever you are. Have an open mind about meeting new people, it will all happen at the right time. Be your most authentic self and you will naturally make friends!

When it comes to studying, you will also learn along the way what works best for you! Everyone has different styles of studying, try different things and don't get discouraged.

My last piece of advice: stay true to yourself, remember to enjoy all the highs and lows, don't stress the small things, one day they won't matter.

Congratulations on your future! That's so exciting. I remember my first week of college vividly, and it was the best time!

For dorm life, don't worry too much about finding the perfect roommate right away. You'll find someone compatible eventually. There's no need to overpack or buy lots of gadgets for your room. A place to store snacks and a mini fridge, if available, will do just fine. I used $10 bins from Target for extra storage. Consider getting a cheap rug if the floor isn't carpeted, and maybe a curtain rod for added privacy.

Fitting in can be challenging, especially when transitioning from high school to college, where the crowd is usually much larger. Just be yourself and do the things you enjoy. Be friendly, and you'll naturally meet people who will become great friends. Apply the same approach in your classes!

When it comes to studying, there's no one-size-fits-all method. Figure out what type of learner you are—visual, auditory, etc. Then, recreate your lectures in the style that suits you best. Focus on understanding the material rather than memorizing it, as this will be more helpful, especially during finals. Try using spaced repetition to reinforce what you learn. Anki, a flashcard app, is great for this. Also, study in groups sometimes to gain new insights from others!
