What is the best studying method for you?

I've tried many things but have no luck, kinda winging everything, and the grades show. Trying to see if there's something I haven't thought about or a new approach to an old method.

Arabela’s Answer

Hello Aisha
First of all, it would be great if you check the way you learn. This information below, it's something that I found, and is very effective.

According to Glasser’s pyramid structure:
We learn and assimilate only 10% when we simply read the proposed content.
When we listen, learning is 20% of what we are taught.
When we observe we are able to assimilate 30% of the determined subject. And by observing and listening at the same time,
We reach 50% of the possibility of retention on the matter.
When discussion, debate and interaction with our colleagues takes place, we increase our assimilation capacity by 70%
And when we get our hands dirty (writing, summarizing, practicing …) we reach the 80% mark.
Our learning reaches its full potential when we teach each other; we reach 95% of our mastery of a given subject. This is where the real difference lies: teaching so that the content is learned as effectively as possible.

Otilia’s Answer

I start by making a study plan, for example I will study 2 hours per day with regular short breaks and then increase the number of hours if needed.
Those 2 hours you need to minimize distractions. Turn off your phone. Find a quiet place to study. When reading information from books, pdfs I take notes by writing on paper (not on your laptop or phone) and using my own words. I review this information later. I read important keywords and concepts aloud - this helps to better memorize. I am searching for alternative resources on difficult topics: videos, online courses, graphical representations, summaries, learning games, online study groups and forums on certain topics, print visual/ graphical representations, tables, matrixes, diagrams, pictures and put them on visible spots (wall, fridge, doors).
Try to connect new information to things you already know (real-life examples; take practice tests). Avoid multitasking. Reward yourself for achieved goals. Also pay attention to your nutrition (eat fatty fish, blueberries, seeds, nuts, various fruits and vegetables, dark chocolate, drink green tea or coffee in the morning) and sleep well. Healthy way of living helps increase your memory. Don't exaggerate and take care of yourself!
