Hello,
Thank you for your question. Paying for school is no joke it can make or break your future. First off congratulations in getting excepted to Ohio university pharmaceutical program. To help with paying for school you can take out loans and then you would need to pay it back once you get a job with interest. Applying for different scholarships is also an option. If you have great grades you can try and write to the president of the university and let them know your situation or better yet hand it to them in person which ever way you can. You never know they may give you a life time opportunity it has happened before. Those are all the tips I have for you. Hope you found this helpful. Best of luck on your journey.
Sincerely,
CSL

Congratulations on getting into the University of Toledo Ohio! I have a few things that might help.
1. If you mean sponsor as in someone to sponsor and house you while you're in school, you shouldn't worry. Most Universities have dormitories and (at least from what I can tell) most require first years to be in said dormitories. So you will have housing, food, internet, and a space to keep your stuff and study.
2. If you mean sponsor as in scholarships, I would recommend looking at your university's options specifically for international students. As other people here also brought up, there are organizations that support students going to school. Finally, you may want to get a job for helping to pay for school. I'd personally recommend an on campus job because they will be willing to work with your schedule and will make sure that your studies come first. Other jobs may not be so gracious. I would also recommend looking for an on campus job in around the same industry that you want to end up working in, or at least one directly related to your major. You could tutor people, work in one of the labs as an assistant, or later on after taking a few classes, TA for a professor.
Hope this helps

Hi Amarachukwu,
Congratulations on your acceptance into the pharmacy program at University of Toledo. I am not sure which of their programs you will attend, i.e. as an undergraduate or as a graduate student. There are different scholarship programs for different degrees.
Generally, there are need-based and merit-based scholarships. There are scholarships for students from specific countries, scholarships for students in specific majors, scholarships for students from particular groups. Not all of them are available to international students. Some of them are specifically for international students. You'll have to sort through the jungle. Use some of the search engines for scholarships that allow you to filter by certain criteria. I left some resources for you below.
First, you need to talk to the financial aid office at U. Toledo what kind of package they can offer you and what scholarships they have internally, specifically for international students: https://www.utoledo.edu/pharmacy/prospective/scholarships.html
https://www.utoledo.edu/financialaid/scholarships/international/
There might be scholarships from the Nigerian government for students to study abroad. Unfortunately, they have just scrapped a scholarship program, but I am not sure if that affects ALL programs.
There are international organizations like the World Bank that offer scholarships: https://www.worldbank.org/en/programs/scholarships
There are big foundations like the Gates Foundation that support students. There are professional societies that provide scholarships.
I hope this helps! All the best to you!

Hello, Amarachukwu !
You are asking about "a sponsor" because you have been accepted into a University in the United States. You do not use a "sponsor" for this. You first have to formally accept the offer from the University. All the information you need will come from the University as they have a foreign student office and you need to closely communicate with them.
The other advisors have provided you good information about scholarships and grants - money to use while you are a student. That will be very helpful when you are enrolled and studying.
Since the University has accepted you, that is your "in" and you do not need a host family or business sponsor to be a student at that college. What you will need is a Student Visa and you have to be admitted before you can apply for the F-1 Visa. The university will give you Form I-20 which is the application for the student visa. Check with your university to know the time to apply for this and the deadline. Information about studying in a different country requires great detail and is based on the student's individual circumstances so make all inquiries about this directly to the University as all Universities may have different guidelines.
Have you established where you will be living yet ? Will you live in the on campus Dormitories ? Will you stay with relatives ? Off campus housing with roommates ? This is probably as important as getting your visa in order. So if you already know where you will live while being a foreign student, that's great, but if not, start right away to plan this, especially if it is for the Fall of 2025.
If you are in doubt about anything connected to studying abroad, consult with the American Embassy or American Consulate Office in your country and they can give you updated, current information about studying in the U.S. Your university in Ohio should also send you an information packet about being a foreign student at their university. So, accept the university's offer, plan where you'll be living and obtain the visa application from your university when you arrive in Ohio. Keep in mind that the scholarships mentioned by the other advisors will help you with expenses while you are a student and be aware of scholarship application start dates and deadlines to apply. Also ask your university in Ohio about U.S. Federal Student Financial Aid for Foreign Students.
It's great that you're getting on top of these plans and I hope this helps ! Best wishes to you in your ventures !
