Hi Imibulelo,
You can study Public Management and International Relations at several universities in South Africa. You'll have to research each program to find the ones that suit you best. Admission requirements might be a little different for each university too, but generally good marks in English and decent marks in math or math literacy are required for admission.
A few examples:
University of Pretoria:
The School of Public Management and Administration (https://www.up.ac.za/school-of-public-management-and-administration) offers a Bachelors in Public Administration and International Relations - https://www.up.ac.za/media/shared/5/2025%20Infographics/up_ems-2025_infographic_bachelor-of-administration-public-management-and-international-relations_web.zp253176.pdf
You find admission requirements here: https://www.up.ac.za/programmes/programme/07131175/year/2026
University of Cape Town:
The Department of Political Studies offers a Bachelors in Politics and Governance - https://humanities.uct.ac.za/department-politics/undergraduate-overview
Masters in International Relations - https://humanities.uct.ac.za/department-politics/postgraduate-coursework-degrees/international-relations-postgraduate-studies
Masters in Public Policy and Administration - https://humanities.uct.ac.za/department-politics/postgraduate-coursework-degrees/public-policy-and-administration-postgraduate-studies
University of the Western Cape:
The Department of Political Studies - https://www.uwc.ac.za/study/all-areas-of-study/departments/department-of-political-studies/overview
offers a Bachelors in Administration - https://www.uwc.ac.za/study/all-areas-of-study/departments/department-of-political-studies/undergraduate
Masters in Political Studies - https://www.uwc.ac.za/study/all-areas-of-study/departments/department-of-political-studies/postgraduate
Beneficial subjects in high-school: English, math/math literacy because that's always required, any language (local or international) or better 2 of them, geography, history, computer/information technology because you always need that, business/economics if available.
I hope this helps! All the best to you!

Hi Imibulelo,
If you're thinking about studying public management and international relations, it's a good idea to take high school classes that match or closely relate to the university courses you'll need. Focus on subjects like social studies, economics, communications, and math.
To find the right classes, check out public management and international relations programs at universities you're interested in. Most universities provide details about their programs and the courses required for a degree.
For instance, I searched for programs near Western Cape, South Africa, and found several options. I visited the University of Pretoria's website and looked up their Bachelor of Administration in Public Management and International Relations. They have a detailed overview of the program and its course requirements. See link here: https://www.up.ac.za/media/shared/5/2025%20Infographics/up_ems-2025_infographic_bachelor-of-administration-public-management-and-international-relations_web.zp253176.pdf
Keep in mind, each university might have different requirements, so it's helpful to compare a few schools if you're not set on one yet.
Best of luck!
