Hello, AunaRay !
I see many, many questions from students who may not be familiar with careers asking about future possible salaries. If you are looking for a six figure salary or in the millions and that is a determining factor whether or not you'd go into veterinary medicine, I can provide some advice for you.
Veterinary Medicine is an excellent career but not one to go into if you need to know how much you'd make before you even start the academic path. It is surely a calling and one must have strong passions for all animals and love school. The actual work is the important factor of this career.
The reason that you could never know how much money you will make is because veterinarians experience a diverse career. They can work for an employer, have their own practice, be on a Board of Directors at an organization, do research and write articles for professional journals, have a specialty like horses and go to the animal, teach at a university and probably other work, too. Since you do not know what you'd be doing, how many jobs you can do at the same time, there is no way to say how much money would be involved. You would have to love this work enough to go through the academic path and start practicing. This career, like many others, has a lot to do with what you are willing to put into it.
I know that there are websites that quote salaries for various careers, but those figures are usually from a year or two prior and based on various locations and will not be the potential for your specific income. After high school it takes between seven and nine years to start as a Veterinarian and no one can guess at salaries for 11 or 12 years from now. So you can go by the said salaries on the internet and make your decision or assess your reason for wanting this important career and decide what you really want to do. Although most veterinarians do well, especially in the suburbs if they're near a rural area, no one can say how your career will go.
Much of life is a journey. Enjoy the discoveries you will make along the way and you will be inspired for a great career !

Hi AunaRay,
You can look up the job outlook and median salary for veterinarians on the website of the Bureau of Labor Statistics or on Indeed. It's a very good career with above average job prospects, but the education is long.
Of course nobody can tell you what YOUR salary will be and how it will stack up 10 years from now. That will depend on your location, your specialty, if you are employed or have your own business, if you work as a veterinarian (i.e. treating animals) or maybe in the pet food industry or some other career track.
I hope this helps! All the best to you!
