What are peoples jobs like as anesthesiologists?

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do after high school, and I'm trying to learn a bit about some things that sound interesting to me. I'd heard about anesthesiology a bit, but I've honestly been a bit scared by it. I know they deal with high stress moments that need quick thinking. How would I know if I would be able to deal with things of the sort?

Hi Caroline,
Nice to know that you are thinking of anesthesia as a career.
With monitoring and guidelines we have improved the safety of patients over the years. There a great deal of research which goes into planning an anesthetic for each patient depending on the comorbidities and the type of surgery.
Every doctor undergoes rigorous training before working independently even then there is help always available in case of emergencies.
It is a long process but a rewarding one, if you want to pursue it you should.
Good luck!
