Hello, Ava !

Work/life balance is a very popular issue with today's generation as reflected in the many inquiries we receive here about it. Believe it or not, it never used to be an issue or something needed to know before we started our careers. We just did what we needed to do and for most people, it worked out with a satisfying blend of work and personal life.

Being from that old school era, there's only one thing that I can say - be organized. Keep a calendar on your phone or an appointment book so you don't double book work or social events. Oh, and set priorities - is it worth missing your cousin's party in order to make $10,000.00 by catering an all day event ? You get to choose what to do, so worrying about work/life balance comes down to basically making decisions based on what is important to you at the time it happens, so cannot be planned years in advance, especially when one isn't in the career yet.

I've known people who were extremely busy, both the husband and the wife, but they would plan vacations even though most of the time they were "two ships in the night" and barely saw each other. But it worked for them. It doesn't work for everyone. Some plan day trips together on their free time. If you're single, you'll find that you don't "have to" go to everything you're invited to because working may have better rewards. And vice versa.

So to me, an old schooler at that, work/life balance is a non-issue and something that is spontaneous and not a constant, varies. Don't expect to micro-manage it. As an actress, I have never once had any issue with work/life balance. During college and training, theatre and acting took priority (and filled 16 hours a day during the week) and I still managed to attend events on weekends and spend time with friends. But work comes first for me in my specific career and I do have great support for it to be that way.

Just make sure you get enough sleep and keep yourself fit if you are going into a culinary career (or any career for that matter). Pace yourself with work and don't push it if you are not feeling good one day, rest and heal.

Be open to living day to day and not trying to have things always the way you want. For the most part, you'll be able to have choices, but learn how to be humble and okay with things that don't work out the way you've expected. That's just a natural part of life. See how your life goes and then you will see your own personal work/life balance take shape !
I hope this helps and I wish you all the best !

Thank you for your question. Firstly, you need to find you a time management tool to help, eg Google calendar, ms outlook, your phone calendar, etc
Below are my suggestions:
1. Firstly, put down the time you need to work and attend school
2. Allocate time for sleeping and do some exercises
3. You can then assign the remaining time for your leisure and friends and family gathering
You do not need to fill up your schedule completely. Leave some 'Me' to relax and heal
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
