Richard’s Answer

About 2 years before you want to apply to medical school. So you could devote the summer between sophomore and junior year to MCAT. Then if you take the MCAT at the end of the summer you can have a chance to retake if you are not satisfied with your score. Then apply to med school during the summer between junior and senior year.

Herman’s Answer

Hi Ailyn,

I suggest preparing for the MCAT a year and a half or 2 years before you plan to apply to medical school. This then gives you enough time in advance to study, take the test, and maybe take the test a second time if necessary. This is just my suggestion. I know people who started studying for the MCAT half a year before their medical school applications; but this can be stressful. Preparing ahead of time can set you up for success.

Best regards,

Herman
