I’m interested in learning social media marketing are there any good courses or institutes in Karachi that focus on practical skills?

Hey! I’ve been really curious about digital marketing lately especially social media. I live in Karachi and I’m trying to find a course where I can actually learn how to run real campaigns, make content, and manage brand pages not just sit through theory classes. If anyone’s taken a course here or knows a good place to start, I’d love to hear your advice!

Thank you comment icon Hey! I’m from Karachi too and looking into social media marketing earlier really helped me. From what I’ve seen, Digital Minds Institute, Arena Multimedia, and Omni Academy are good options. they teach real campaign work, content creation, and freelancing tips. Fatima

If you're eager to learn practical skills, here are three hands-on courses in social media marketing:

1. Udacity – Social Media Marketing
- This 12-hour course is perfect for beginners. It covers content calendars, targeted ads, and platform tools. You'll work on real projects to apply your skills.

2. Digital Marketing Institute via Coursera – Social Media Marketing in Practice Specialization
- This series of four courses includes exercises that help you apply strategies to content, platforms, and analytics. It's great for a deeper understanding with practical tasks.

3. University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (online) – Social Media Marketing: Practical Course
- This course focuses on skills for specific platforms like Facebook and Instagram. You'll learn about videos, influencer strategies, analytics, and campaign management. It's self-paced with structured, applied tasks.

Hello, Zoha !

For your interest in Social Media Marketing, you have three options. In layman's terms it means promoting and selling stuff/brands on social media platforms. You didn't state if what you want to do is for a product or a service and you want to become skilled on your own terms of no theory classes and "a class" where you'd learn it all. If you want to learn on your own terms, just start networking at companies and applying for jobs, but your competitors may very well have college degrees in Marketing or some computer related degree.

You will need to learn about target audiences, how to track social media trends, creating and publishing high quality content, engaging with followers through comments and messages, analyzing campaign performance using metrics like reach, engagement, and conversion rates, and refining strategies based on data driven insights. I don't know if one course would take care of all that or if there may be some "theory" involved. Your three options are to just do it after heavily networking with businesses, taking courses online or going to college to obtain an Associates Degree (which will qualify you to employers) in Social Media Marketing.

Some online websites that offer online classes in social media marketing are Coursera, Great Learning, online from The University of Delaware, Udemy, Google's Grow with Google, HubSpot Academy and Google Garage. The curriculum is set and may not be to your requests so go to each website and read what the courses offer and pick one that you like. The more education you have in Marketing will benefit you for this career. If you do online "certifications' make sure you know the difference between professional Certification and Certificates of Attendance. There's a difference. To really stand out and have great networking opportunities, you can consider looking into obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Marketing, in person at university.

If you later decide that it may be beneficial to attend college for an Associates Degree in Social Media Marketing, in Pakistan, you can attend Iqra University. That is a two year structured and complete path for this career. Pak College offers a focused course of study for this career but find out if they offer an Associates Degree in it. You will want to have as much credibility as possible so get as many credentials as possible.

This will require a lot of networking also. Companies need to know who you are. Attend any business events and Job Fairs and mingle with everyone. Have business cards made once you are ready to work and hand them out. Create a Linked In page and follow companies that you are interested in doing marketing for. Look for work on Indeed and other employment websites. Read these employment notices now to know what companies are requiring in a prospective applicant. You may need the college degree to stand out when applying for work.

You're also going to need experience that will help you start your career. Nexskill provides a 6-month boot camp in Lahore that covers social media strategy, content creation, advertising, and analytics across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok, with hands-on projects and virtual internships. Also offer your services to some local businesses.

Learn more about this career before making a decision on how to learn the information and skills you'll need for it. Look up presentational and instructional videos on You Tube about social media marketing. Consider all options and decide which path would be the best for you towards your professional goal.

I hope this helps and I wish you all the best !
