If you work hard, you can be anything . Example : Obama.

Work 3, 4 or 5 time more.

Thank you comment icon Yes!! If you have a story to tell, tell it. Shoot it on an iPhone until you master the craft a bit, but nothing should hold you back. Good luck! Jordan Brady

David’s Answer

I am assuming you misspelled ethnicity.

The only thing holding you back is you. You want to direct? Then go out and do it. Directing is not easy though. It takes a lot of planning and hard work. You are very close to a lot of women in the film industry and you live in a diverse cultural area.

There is a chapter of Women in Film right in Dallas called Women in Film/Dallas. Look into joining. There are also a number of Facebook groups in Dallas that are film industry groups. There is always someone looking for people to learn and work on shorts and features right around where you live.

David recommends the following next steps:

Study great and not so great films from the past, learn what influenced the directors of today.

You can do and be anything you want to be if you work hard.  If you want to be a film director do it. Do it and keep doing it in until you perfect your craft.

Erin recommends the following next steps:

Direct your own film
Join a network of independent filmmakers
Submit your film to a film festival
