Hi, Agnes !

You wouldn't be able to be in a TV show until you learn acting. It may look like an ideal dreamy thing, but there's a lot of work, dedicated time, discipline and you'd have to rearrange school. Also, you cannot choose where or on what you will act. At 14, your parent would have to do the career with you, accompanying you to auditions, paying for training, signing contracts. If one of your parents has time for this, then you can have an acting career while under age 18. Also, being demanding or spelling out the acting work "you want" will not work. You do not get to choose when and what you work on as an actor. It's almost impossible to be in this career if you do not know anything about it.

We do get this question ever so frequently - many young teens say that they want to act, be in a movie or TV show, but it is very important that anyone pursuing this career is able to see it as work and not a fun recreational pastime. Since there are no acting opportunities at your school, you'll have to invest in training outside of school.

Have your parent contact the Boston Theater Company’s Teen Touring Troupe as they provide training for your age group. Also contact the Greater Boston Stage Company for training. If you are serious about acting as a career, you will take the necessary steps to develop the skills and learn the business. If it is just a thing you think is easy and fun, then you can start doing plays and videos with friends and form an acting troupe as an extracurricular at school. Ask your teachers or your guidance counselor how to form a group at your school. A big part of being an actress is to be a go-getter. You will need a lot of social and life experience too for this career.

As of today, there are no TV shows being filmed or taped in Boston. The last thing produced in Boston was "Dexter" ending in 2022. Keep in mind that a lot of production requires some travel so your parent would have to be available to provide transportation as well as accompaniment and oversight for whatever work you do.

My advice is that since many young teens' parents do not have the luxury of time to manage their child's acting pursuits, and since you do not get every part you audition for, I would say to wait until you graduate high school and enroll in college as a Theatre Major with the emphasis on Acting. Other than that, create opportunities at school and train hard in your community with theatre programs and private acting lessons.

Do not use social media for your acting. Never put your identity as an actress on social media as this causes possible trouble. Professional training will teach you how to correctly start an acting career.

I hope this helps you with beginning to learn what acting is all about and I wish you the best moving forward !
