How do I know if communication disorders is the right major for me?

I am a senior in high school, interested in pursuing speech therapy as a future career.

How do you feel about saliva and phlegm? How about looking in a mouth? How about watching people chew and swallow? How about xrays? Would you want to read swallowing xrays with a Radiologist?

Do you care about people? If you cannot care for someone as if they are your own loved one, this field is not for you. If you can—and can handle secretions and kids/patients biting and punching you—you may be cut out for a career in Speech-Language Pathology/Speech Therapy.
