How does one improve their studying techniques?
I feel like I can never get into the flow of studying, I always feel just a little bit distracted and I feel like that holds me back from doing my best when it comes to my courses.

Hi Jenelle. One of the first things you can do is too create a study space that's free from distractions. Find a quiet spot where you can focus, maybe a corner in your room, a library, or a coffee shop if that helps you concentrate. Make sure your study area is tidy and has everything you need, like notebooks, pens, or a laptop. It's also a good idea to turn off phone notifications or use apps that block distractions so you're not tempted to check your phone while you're studying.
Another way to stay focused is by breaking your study time into smaller chunks. Instead of trying to study for hours at a time, try studying for 25-30 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. This method helps you stay fresh and prevents burnout.
Active learning is another important technique to try. Instead of just reading through your notes, engage with the material by writing notes, summarizing what you've learned, or even teaching the material to someone else. This kind of active involvement helps you remember things better and keeps your mind engaged.

Back in school, I often got distracted. To help me focus, I would put on my headphones and listen to my favorite music. I would write down what I needed to focus on, then figure out what was most and least important, and work backward from there. This method helped me a lot. Staying organized is important. You can create a study schedule, take breaks when needed, and make sure to get enough rest. Don't forget to reward yourself now and then—it keeps you motivated!

Dear Learner,
Take a break, sit with yourself and reflect on your present. Reflect if the course you are pursuing is of your choice or not. If it is then its clear, its not the subject which is causing this distraction. So then pay attention to the surrounding. Sometimes a simple act of clearing things out of your study space can do wonders. Add some motivational quotes which you like on the walls. On the front page of your book add - I love studying this (Subject Name). Besides this, ensure to take small breaks and do not burnout. Also find out what kind of learner you are. If for example you are a visual learner, then try making a Visual picture of the topic/lesson. You will retain this image much longer than the text and it will help to recall the answers much easily. Remember, its not the subject but the approach you follow (as per your comfort and enjoyment) which will make it more enjoyable and get you into the flow you are aiming for!

To improve your studies, first figure out how you learn best, whether it's through videos, audio, classroom sessions, or group study. Identify what distracts you and set aside specific time for those distractions. This way, you can focus fully on your studies. Distractions happen because of your own choices, so deal with them first to stop them from bothering you.
