What was your experience getting into a college with a low acceptance rate even though you had low stats in high school? #Fall25

I’m a senior in high school, and I really want the chance to go to a university. I’m a bit worried because my GPA is barely a 3.0 and my SAT score is 1010, but I have over 100 volunteer hours and I’m earning certifications in healthcare since I plan to go into nursing. #Fall25

Grades are not everything but some universities have hard requirements that if you don't meet your application will get auto-rejected basically. You could also consider enrolling in a community college and getting a few semesters in there taking courses that will transfer into your school of choice and establish a solid GPA at the college level then transfer in. The key here is doing the research and not just taking what the community college recommends but taking only courses you know will transfer. In my state there is a database that the state maintains that maps every community course class to every state 4 year institution. That way you don't lose time by taking things that won't contribute to your degree plan at your university of choice, you save some money and you prove yourself at the college level increasing your chances of being admitted.
