On what level do you get to know your clients as a financial advisor?
Does the relationship dynamic change depending on the client?

Yes it will change depending on the person. You would have to get to know what each person needs from an advisor. Some want you to communicate less and some need more. You should have to get to know the clients on a level where you understand what they want for their goals this includes personal investments , retirement goals, marriages, estate planning, etc all of these topics will create a level that goes beyond just the surface of a dentist client relationship for example. Of course this depends on the person and what they need an advisor for as well.

I'm not a financial advisor but I have been a client. In my opinion yes the dynamic changes based on the client BUT also changes based on where that client is in their discovery process. I've left firms and consequently the financial advisor because they took too much of a hands off approach and I've also not followed up with an advisor because I've felt too pushed to do something I didn't want to do. I think the key is just figuring out where people are quickly and being able to meet them wherever that is. Sounds easy but not and can be limited based on the tools you're given by the firm.
