What is one thing you wish you knew before choosing your major?

I am a currently senior in high school and I plan to attened college. I have many majors in mind and I'm not sure what to pick.

I wish I had known that it's okay not to have all the answers right away. College is a great time to explore and discover new interests and passions you might not be aware of yet. It's important to stay flexible, keep an open mind, and learn how to find and follow what you love most.

So, instead of worrying about picking the "perfect" major, you should focus on building skills and experiences that interest you and help you grow.

It's also important to think about what kind of work you enjoy doing on a daily basis, not just what sounds exciting as a major. For example, you might love psychology, but do you enjoy reading research, writing papers, or analyzing data? You may love art, but do you enjoy long hours of creative work and giving or receiving criticism? Understanding the day-to-day reality of a field can help you choose a major that fits both your interests and your working style.

Another helpful thing to know is that college gives you time to explore. Most colleges let you take different classes during your first year before choosing a major. This is a big advantage. Exploring different subjects helps you learn more about yourself and what you enjoy.
