This is truly amazing of you, beloved.

I encourage you to first seek guidance from your parents or guardians. If they give you permission, online volunteering can be a great option for you, especially in the areas of creating content or making drawings for schools.

There are several platforms like VolunteerMatch, that accept volunteers from age 13. You can explore them online to find the one that fits you best.

Stay happy.

Hi Navia,

I love books and animals too!

Did you know that many local animal shelters have programs where kids can read to scared animals? It helps the animals get used to human voices and being around kids, which makes them more likely to be adopted. Plus, you can choose any book you like to read, whether it's a chapter book, poems, or childhood favorites. The animals just need to hear human voices to feel safe.

Another fun option, with some adult help, is fostering animals. Taking care of kittens and puppies can be a lot of work, but it's really rewarding. It helps make space in shelters for more animals. Fostering teaches animals how to live in a home and behave well. For kittens and puppies, this means learning to play gently. For dogs, it's about learning commands like sit, stay, and come, and not jumping on people.

Make sure to check both city and private shelters for volunteering opportunities!

Jean recommends the following next steps:

Reach out to a local shelter to find out about their volunteering programs!
Ask your home adults if they would be open to fostering any animals.

Great that you are thinking about volunteering. I believe you will experience a lot of gratification throughout your life by volunteering for various causes.

Send an email to the Principal or Assistant at a local grade school. Let them know you are interested in helping kids learn to read (or improve their reading skills). Tell them what days and times you are available. If you don't have a grade school nearby, check in at your own school. There are many students who would welcome having someone work with them on reading assignments.

Be sure your parents know you want to volunteer and ask if they might be open to family opportunities. Search online for those where age is not a restriction.

You might also offer to walk a neighbor's dog, especially if you know of someone who is a bit elderly. Tell them you want the experience and nothing in return. Enjoy the gift of giving!

With every good wish and many blessings!
