Great question! Starting your preparation early is absolutely the right approach, and it really does come down to practice.

Master your personal narrative. Be ready to discuss your background, interests, studies, and accomplishments confidently. This might feel awkward initially, but remember you're demonstrating why you're both qualified for the role and would be a great team member. Practice articulating your story until it feels natural rather than rehearsed.

Know your resume inside and out. Most interviews begin with "tell me about yourself" or "walk me through your resume." Practice this out loud, highlighting your roles, responsibilities, key accomplishments, and relevant interests. Focus on connecting your experiences to skills that would benefit the internship role.

Learn the STAR method for behavioral questions. This framework helps you give structured, compelling answers: Situation (set the scene), Task (explain your goal), Action (describe your specific steps), and Result (share the outcome, including what you learned). Research common behavioral questions like "Tell me about a time you faced a challenge" or "Describe a time you worked in a team," then practice crafting STAR responses.

Research the company and role thoroughly. Understand their business, recent developments, culture, and how this specific internship fits into their operations. Prepare thoughtful questions that demonstrate genuine interest beyond just "What would my day-to-day look like?"

Plan your logistics and first impression. Know exactly where you're going, arrive 10-15 minutes early, dress appropriately for their culture, and bring extra copies of your resume. These details matter more than you might think.

The key is practicing out loud until your responses feel conversational rather than scripted. Good luck!

Hi Caitlin! This is a great question! It is important to research the company you are interviewing with. You want to know what they are working on, accomplishments, and any other information. THis will be important in the interview if they ask what do you know about the company and to have questions for them. I suggest having at least one question in the interview.

Another suggestion is to practice with someone you feel comfortable with. That helps with not just having the answers but the tone, body language, and how you present. Some common questions, "Tell me about yourself", "What are your goals", "Tell me about a strength/weakness."

Wishing you much success!
