Hi Amariah. I suggest looking into an internship with the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), which has a Northern California chapter - this is their website: https://www.cmaanorcal.org. . I served on the CMAA Internship board for several years and took on interns from their annual program. The interns were paid I believe $20/hr by the companies they interned for. Some of these interns ended up working at our construction management company in Los Angeles. The CMAA Internship program connects you with various public and private companies, allowing you to choose between working with a builder, a transportation agency, or a construction management company like ours that handles public works projects. CMAA also offers the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) accreditation, which is recognized globally and is often required for lead Construction Managers.
Additionally, there is a great organization called WTS International that focuses on women in transportation careers. It is inexpensive to join as a student and it's a great way to network to find internship opportunities. They also have a scholarship program that might be helpful to you. The Central California chapter website is here: https://www.wtsinternational.org/chapters/central-california.

Most school cancelers have access to companies who offer internships paid or otherwise. You can also contact the personnel department of construction and or engineering companies to inquire about these positions as well. If you have a career day at your school this is a great place to get this information too.
