How do I decide which major to study?
I am a high school senior getting ready to go to college and am struggling to decide what my major should be...I am interested in several things and don't want to waste money on classes that don't fit what I ultimately want to do.

Hi Lily. You need to think about what you enjoy. Since you're interested in a few things, try to break down why each subject excites you. For example, do you like solving problems or working with technology? If so, majors like engineering or computer science might be a good fit. If you enjoy working with people and helping others, maybe something like psychology, education, or social work would be a better choice. Write down your interests and see if there's a common theme among them. This can help narrow down your options.
Next, you need to think about what kind of life you want to have after college. Some jobs are in offices with regular hours, while others might let you work remotely or travel. Do you want a job that's creative, or would you prefer something more structured? Researching different careers related to your interests can help you get a better idea of what each job is like and whether it fits the lifestyle you want.
It's also important to consider job stability and pay. While it's great to follow your passion, you should also think about how easy it will be to find a job and how much it will pay. Some fields have lots of job openings and higher salaries, while others may be more competitive or offer lower pay.
If you're still not sure, many colleges have "undeclared" or "exploratory" majors. This lets you take general classes in your first year or two without committing to a specific major. You can explore different subjects to see which ones you enjoy most before making a final decision.
