Hi Kylah,

Starting salaries for new caterers vary based on location, company size, role, and whether the job is full-time or part-time.

For full-time positions, beginners typically earn between $24,000 and $28,000 annually. Salaries in big cities or high-cost areas are usually higher, while rural areas may pay less. Part-time caterers often earn $15 to $18 per hour, depending on location and company.

Several factors affect starting pay, such as culinary training, food service experience, company size, and location. Many start in lower-paying roles like kitchen assistants and move up as they gain experience.

Catering offers good growth potential. With experience, skills, and certifications in food safety or culinary arts, you can advance to supervisory roles, event coordination, or even start your own business, increasing your earnings over time.

Is there a specific type of catering or location you're interested in?

This question can have quite a few answers. If you own your own company and manage things well, it’s quite possible to make over $100,000 a year. If you’re referring to a Catering Manager or someone who would oversee events, you will likely see a pay range between 60 and $90,000. Depending on high high, and the cater is, these numbers may go a little higher, depending on commissions or bonuses.
