Hi Rylan, I would absolutely suggest getting a part time job at McDonalds so you can learn all the functions including ordering/cashier, cooking, restaurant maintenance, etc. Once employed there, ask the current Manager about their path to becoming a Manager. Also ask them if they would be willing to serve as a mentor or coach to you so you can learn as much as possible. Always stay curious and open to learning.

My best recommendation is to learn all the basics of processes, standards, recipes, and the basic functions of the work tools. It is important to familiarize yourself with the sales metrics of the store where you work, such as the average ticket size and which items you can offer in each transaction to increase that sales ticket amount. Also, learn about KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), which are metrics established by corporate. You should have a good command of inventory management, reports on shrinkage, and techniques to minimize these losses. Most importantly, learn how to lead a team, be collaborative, and understand the personal needs of your staff. After working for six years to pay for my university studies in a similar field, I learned that the most crucial skill for managing a store like this is personnel management — the staff. Good luck!

With most food service organizations managers are normally associates that have worked their way up the ranks. They are also associates with excellent customer service traits, dependable, and have great integrity. If you are currently an employee of McDonald's ask your current manager what the qualifications are? How did they become to a manager? What qualities do they see in you that would make you a good manager? What should you change?

Unfortunately, i am unfamiliar with that process. My only advice would be to find a current manager and get their thoughts.
Additionally, working hard, being on time and helping others always helps to get visibility for promotions.
