That's a fantastic goal, and it's great that you're already thinking about classes. You're ahead of many high school students! Since you want to be a therapist, focus on classes that improve your reading, writing, and people skills. Therapy is all about understanding and communicating with others.

If your school offers it, psychology is a great choice, especially AP Psychology, as it gives you a deeper look into mental health and behavior. Other helpful classes include sociology, human development, and health, which teach you about how people interact and grow. Don't forget about English and writing classes, they're important for writing essays, case notes, and therapy documents.

Outside of classes, getting experience with people is really valuable. Volunteering at community centers, joining peer counseling programs, or tutoring can help you develop empathy and communication skills. Your main aim should be to mix strong academics with people-focused experiences. This will prepare you well for college programs in psychology, counseling, or social work, which are paths to becoming a therapist.

Hi Max! If your school has AP Psychology, it's a good class to see if you want to study psychology in college, especially if you're thinking about becoming a therapist. Sociology is also a good class to consider.
