It's wonderful that you care about making others feel safe and understood. Many people need someone who will listen without judging. Being a good comforter means you listen well, show empathy, and help people feel less alone. This is a special and valuable quality, and not everyone has it naturally.

Therapists, on the other hand, are trained to go beyond offering comfort. They learn about psychology and mental health, and they know specific ways to help people understand their emotions, change unhealthy habits, and handle tough situations. They don't just help someone feel better in the moment; they teach skills that can improve mental health over time.

Remember, you don't always have to "solve" someone's problems. Often, people just want to feel heard and understood. By practicing listening, being patient, and learning about emotions, you're already developing skills that good therapists have. Since you're only in 9th grade, you have lots of time to explore psychology and decide if it's something you want to study in the future.
