What classes should I take in high school to become an electrician?

I don't really think my school offers anything directly relating to electrical work, but are there any classes that would help me regardless?

You need the following things in order to get into the electricians apprenticeship:

A high school diploma
Reading comprehension at a high school level
High school level math (algebra and some trigonometry)

That's really it. Shop class helps but you don't have to have it, vocational classes help but you don't have to have them, drafting/ blueprinting/ CAD and computer basics help but you don't have to have them. Extended math classes can help but most of your higher math required will be done by engineers for you.

Be ready to apply to an apprenticeship, bring your physical diploma and sealed transcripts, take a basic math test, take a basic reading test, and do an interview on why you want to be an electrician.

The apprenticeship got separated from high school a long time ago and became two separate paths but the apprenticeship is still based on high school fundamentals and should be enough to get you working as a journeyman when you are done.
