Any advice for a student starting an embedded internship?

I've been learning some c++ and OOP principles as the firmware description said that those are the need to knows. I haven't got any practice with actual embedded coding however i do have an arduino uno 4 i bought recently along with some other components, breadboards, wires etc.

Additionally, what tools can I familiarise myself with, including study material and tricks s'il vous plaît?
What classes should I take in high school to become an electrician?

I have prior knowledge (through some high school physics) of simple laws and circuits, voltage, current, etc. I recently invested in this book called "Practical Electronics for Inventors" and I think its fantastic, but, what should I really be focusing my time on to be ready for this scary college major?
