How do you not get overwhelmed when switching to a new school?
When moving to a new school for college how do you avoid getting overwhelmed? What would help a person not get picked on and make friends?

Hi Maria,
Switching to a new school can feel overwhelming at first, and that is completely normal. The best thing you can do is take it one step at a time instead of trying to figure everything out all at once. Give yourself time to adjust to the new environment.
To make friends, you could try joining a club, talking to classmates, or attending events. Being yourself and staying open to conversations goes a long way. Most people are also looking to make friends, even if it does not seem like it. It could also be a good idea to focus on building your confidence and surrounding yourself with people who treat you well. Over time, things will start to feel more comfortable.
Good luck to you!

Hello,
Moving away to college can be a scary transition that can easily overwhelm you.
I recommend staying organized with dates and deadlines by either using a planner or storing everything in your phone’s calendar. Luckily most colleges have online platforms for their classes and you can easily transfer deadlines and reminders to your phone calendar with the click of a button.
Remember to take it one task at a time and try to weed out the most urgent tasks to do first by making a list, when you are able to visualize the list of things you need to do it makes it feel more manageable and less overwhelming.
Also take advantage of the event that are taking place for freshman connecting with other students that are in the same position as you will help and you can also make new friends for this new phase of your life. Going to the club fair and finding one that interests you will help with making friends since you already have something in common and belong to the club. Just be yourself college has many people from all walks of life. Best of luck to you while you start college!
