What would taking a gap year look like Should I take one of my lower level offers or wait a year to maybe get a better offer??

I am a senior in high school and just turned 18. I play soccer and ultimately want to be a professional. I have to also make a decision to go to a college by about May 1st. This puts me under a bit of pressure. #Spring26

I would offer it’s easier to keep going and to continue with school. Even if you just take a class or two, I’ve know a fair number of people who have struggled to go back after they take time off. At the end of the day, do what feels right.

I would weigh the pros and cons of taking a gap year to see what benefits you at this stage of your life. You can also start college in the fall and choose to do the gap year after starting college based on your program requirements and speaking with a councilor at the college can help you plan and show you what it would look like. If you do choose to have a gap year i recommend having trainings and clinics set up that you are going to dedicate yourself to during the year instead of waiting to see what is offered because there could be a waitlist or completely booked out. College life is also more flexible in terms of high school you are able to choose classes that fit into your schedule so you may be able to handle doing both training and classes at the same time.
