Hi Vita, Sharyna's response was really helpful, and I completely agree with her advice. Start your resume with your contact details at the top, then add a short objective that describes your goals and what you're seeking. Highlight your education by listing your school, grade level, and expected graduation date. Don't forget to mention skills like communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving. If you have any experience, make sure to include it, along with extracurricular activities such as school clubs, sports, volunteering, or projects, as these show your responsibility and initiative. Including any achievements or awards can also make you stand out. Remember, a strong resume should be clear and focused on your potential, showing what you can learn and contribute in the future. You've got this!

Hi Vita,
That is a great question! You may not know that there are many things you can include in a resume even if you have no work experience.
I'll go section by section of what you want to include in your resume:
1. Contact information. You want your name at the top of your resume, centered and bolded to make it stand out. Underneath your name, include your location (no exact address, city state zip is fine), phone number and email so someone can easily connect with you. Make sure your email is professional, meaning don't use something like 'kinggamer35@ gmail.com', rather something with your name or some form of your name. If you have a LinkedIn, add the URL.
2. List your education next. Include school name, diploma and when you expect to graduate. Underneath you can list relevant classes, your GPA (if 3.6 or higher), dean's list or similar.
3. Next is Relevant Experience. If you have any work experience, whether volunteer, internship, or non-paid work, include it. You can also list activities, clubs and highlight things you did thatwould relate to the job.
4. Awards and Honors. Include academic honors, awards from student activities, competitions or volunteer service. Examples: Perfect Attendance Award, Volunteer of the Month, Math Excellence Award, Leadership Award for a student club.
5. List skills. If you have skills related to the job you are applying to, definitely include them. You can also add soft skills you have such as leadership, communication, problem solving for example.
Tips:
- Keep your resume to one page
- Use white space. This makes your resume easier to read quickly.
- Be consistent in formatting (font type and size as well as placement of information. If you put an experience date on the left, put all of them on the left)
Sample Template:
Name
City, State | Phone number | Email address
Motivated high school student seeking an opportunity to [write what you're seeking] where I can apply my skills and further develop my passion for [industry].
Education
High school | City, State
Graduation date: [date] |

Relevant coursework: [list relevant classes you've taken/are taking]
Relevant Experience

* What you did and the impact you made (ex. Organized and supported 3–5 volunteer events with 15–30 attendees each, helping ensure smooth coordination and strong participation)
