What can I put on my resume as a 10th grader who's interested in business?
I'm interested in hair products and learning more about hair.

Hi Kendra!
A resume is a great tool to use for jobs, internships or other opportunities to build your experience in business. I recommend looking at the skills someone would need in business and then look at the things you've already done to see where you've used those skills.
Some skills that are good for business include:
- Communication
- Problem-solving
- Creativity
- Teamwork
- Marketing
- Reliability
- Social Media Management
You may have participated in school clubs and activities, volunteer work, and even personal projects. These can be put on a resume to show you have experience in these skills.
For example, if you've done babysitting or pet sitting, fundraising for a club or activity, or volunteered in your community, some example things you can say on your resume are:
* Helped my [club/team] raise $X by selling [product] to neighbors, family, and community members
* Watched over kids for 5 families in my neighborhood, keeping them safe and entertained
* Helped 3 kids with homework, made snacks, and kept them on a schedule while parents were away
* Received repeat business from parents due to reliability and trustworthiness
* Gave back to the community by volunteering with a local food bank, packaging food for 100 families
* Helped organize a food drive at school, collecting over 100 cans in 2 weeks
* Tutored 3 students in 7th grade in reading and math after school
These are examples highlighting some of the business skills. If you are focusing on the area of hair care, you can talk about doing family and friend's hair or learning you have from reading, YouTube or other sources.
A general format for a resume is (in this order):
