Hi Michael,

At your stage, it’s not about having a “perfect” resume; it’s about showing interest, responsibility, and early exposure to helping others. You can start by including things like school involvement, volunteer work, and any roles where you support or work with people. For example, helping out in community programs, tutoring classmates, being part of peer support groups, or volunteering with youth or local organizations all count. Even informal experiences, like helping siblings with schoolwork or being someone others come to for support, can be shaped into skills like communication, patience, and empathy.

You can also include any clubs or activities related to psychology, leadership, or service. If your school doesn’t have one, even showing that you’re reading about mental health or taking small steps to learn more can reflect genuine interest. What matters most is not how “big” the experience is but what it shows about you, things like reliability, kindness, listening skills, and willingness to help others.

You’re very early in the journey, so focus on building experiences step by step. Over time, those small things turn into a strong, meaningful profile for a future in therapy.

Best wishes!
