Casey’s Answer

Some people believe police are unnecessary, others think police harm community welfare, and some see police as essential for stopping crime. Your view often depends on your political and ethical beliefs. Assuming police do their job ideally, they have a few clear roles:

- In a society with laws, someone must enforce court decisions, handle immediate threats, and make sure legal rights and duties are effective. Police usually have this role.

- In places where people can access weapons, it makes sense for a part of the government to also have weapons and receive proper training to use them safely.

- It's important to have a group dedicated to investigating and finding facts, like gathering evidence and documenting events. This helps ensure fair outcomes and avoids private revenge or rumors.

While these tasks aren't always done perfectly, they are important roles for a government agency, usually the police.
