How do you manage to keep up with the workload in college while also playing a sport?

I am currently a senior committed to play soccer at a 4-year college, and I am curious how different it is compared to playing a sport and managing schoolwork in high school. I am planning in majoring in business management, and I am curious about what workload could possibly be.

You can definitely handle it, but you'll need to be thoughtful about how you use your time.

When I played sports in college, I couldn't afford to procrastinate. Practices, travel, and games filled up my schedule, so I had to become more disciplined than most students. I planned my days carefully, fitting in study time during travel and completing assignments early whenever I could.

The structure really helped. Having a set schedule for practices and team activities made it easier to organize everything else. You quickly learn to focus on what's important and what can wait.

Communication is also key. I made sure to talk to my professors, especially during travel times. Most are more understanding than you might think if you let them know in advance and show you're serious about their class.

Being part of a team also keeps you accountable. Everyone is managing the same responsibilities, so you support each other and figure it out together.

It's not always easy, and there are busy times, but it's definitely doable. It also prepares you well for your future career, where you'll need to juggle multiple tasks and manage your time effectively.
